Equality And Human Rights Commission
Was set up in October 2007. Its main objectives are to:
• Build positive relationships
• Eliminate discrimination
• Protect human rights
• Reduce inequality.
It replaces, reinforces and builds on the work developed by the three previous equality commissions, that is:
• Commission for Racial Equality
• Disability Rights Commission
• Equal Opportunities Commission.
The role of the Commission is to create a voice for the disadvantaged and to add other aspects of equality to this such as age, human rights, sexual orientation, belief and religion.
