Citizens Advice Bureaux:
Advice agencies which were first set up in 1938; today there is a bureau in most towns.
They give free advice on a variety of matters, mostly connected to social welfare problems and debt. They also advise on some legal matters and some may have arrangements with local solicitors who attend at the bureau on a regular basis to give free legal advice.
Individual bureaux may bid for the right to be a fundholder under the legal help schemes and operate the government funded Form 10 for legal advice.
