Follow-Up Study

Refers to the process of maintaining contact with participants after an investigation in order to see what long-term effects have been caused by their participation in the study. Follow-up studies are useful for a number of reasons. They enable the investigator to check for any ill effects caused by participation in the study, and they occasionally establish the existence of sleeper effects that would otherwise be undetected.
