Jury Vetting
Occurs after the names of potential jurors have been selected and before they start to try any cases. There are two types of vetting:
• a routine police check to eliminate those who have a conviction and are disqualified;
• a wider check on background and political views. This may only be done with the permission of the Attorney-General in cases which involve national security or terrorist cases.
